Signs of Dedication

I went running in the rain this morning. Hmm. Let’s break that sentence apart in order to truly appreciate it, shall we?

I went running” Running is back to being nearly an assumed thing for me, and this is beautiful . There was a lengthy hiatus in the not-so distant past, so I don’t want to take it for granted.

“in the rain” Having the motivation to run in the wet stuff is a big deal. In fact, it currently ranks #4 in my “Ways to Tell if You’re a Runner” countdown. Boy, that sounds like a great post. I’d link to it, but it doesn’t exist yet. Regardless, I could have just as easily gone back to sleep when the running alarm woke me in the midst of a rainstorm.

“this morning” How many times  have I grumbled about  not being a morning person? I DON’T LIKE running in the morning…particularly this time of year, when “morning” is synonymous with “dark and scary.” But I got my whiny patoot out there anyway, because there were miles to be run and I have a GTC meeting to attend after work tonight.

So. I went running in the rain this morning! I earned some sloshy shoes and a few more miles to check off my little 17-week to-do list. Yeehaw for that. And I know, I know, it’s easy to be dedicated on week 2 of this little experiement, but I’m trying desperately to be positive. Hopefully, laying some slacker-free groundwork in the beginning will help sustain me as the miles add up.

  1. proud of you miss megan! now you just have to get to “went running in the rain at 4 AM” and we KNOW you have arrived …. because we’ll be right there with you 🙂

  2. Meggy, that’s awesome. No matter what comes your way, know that I believe in you and I am out there with you (9 hours to the south). Tell Scott great job with his stuff as well, and keep it up! You inspire me!

  3. Liked the post…being a morning person, who actually likes to run in the rain, I’m interested to see the top 3 things to tell if I am a runner! Having a training log in use has got to be in the top 10…
